Any idea how it works David? I can’t figure out how a laser system is supposed to detect buried IEDs or mines.

I’m not entirely sure, but from the video he switches the screen from one display mode to another, maybe thermal?
They have to lower the vibrating system on the front first so does it measure the differing frequencies of the materials in the soil?
undisturbed soil would be constant as it has been exposed to the same conditions but the soil around the object would be less dense after being disturbed plus the differing materials in the object, from the video it distinctly shows the outline of the object.
There’s still some questions but if it does what they claim, I can think of a couple of times I could have used it in a few situations, at least it would make armoured Bharma less of a gamble!
