Vending Machines

Debbie Abrahams: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many vending machines in his Department’s premises contain snack foods that are high in calories and low in nutritional value. [163525]

Dr Murrison: The information requested is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.

If you had ever had to look after Cadets on MoD property you would realise vending machines are an extremely important issue.

after reading a few of these questions, I once joked a question would be asked about the nutritious value of biscuits eaten in the mod. Looks like I wasn’t far off…

Seventeen identical vending machine questions. She certainly deserves 74 grand for her hard work. Snack bombshells include…

Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Brandon Lewis (Con).
” I would observe that the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister signed a facilities management contract in 2004 which required that there ‘must be top-selling brands’ of chocolate in the vending machine for the first Secretary of State.
Ministers in this Administration would regard that as over-specification.”

Minister for the Cabinet Office, Chloe Smith (Con).
” I do not think asking civil servants to analyse the nutritional contents of the drinks and snacks on offer is an appropriate use of public funds.”

: “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!” Quality film!

Ace you’ve picked out one of my favourite movie lines. Right up there with: “You look like 40 miles of rough road.” (Paris,Texas).

Odd that the only other film about defence I can think of with a vending machine is also to do with cans not of soda but instant sunshine, Sum of All Fears.

Of course there is another reason to remember that film too…………

Can I submit a runner up , I think to be truly pointless a question should have actually been answered:

Steve Rotheram: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what information his Department holds on how many service personnel in Liverpool are currently entitled to an HM Forces Railcard. [162301]

Mr Francois: All members of the regular armed forces and reservists undertaking full-time or permanent service are entitled to an HM Forces Railcard.

As at 1 April 2013 there were 110 Regular and full-time reserve service personnel serving in the Liverpool area.
