Must have come a long way?
Ascension…or Chile? Someone will no doubt know…any offers?
GNB
They were flown direct from Ascension, in fact the Hercules supply flights (plural, because there were loads of them) broke several records
Best not to speak about the RAF supporting the RN with vital logistics too loudly though :)
The hercs out of Chile were more discrete, well most of the time…
Boss – If you don’t mention that, I’m sure nobody will say anything about the re-location of Islands to prove a controversial case about land-based air cover…
@ GNB
lol it could really go back and fourth, but when I was hercs; plenty of times we would send off hercs with kit for the puddle pirates C: though not para-drops! The support network isn’t really talked about because its a given, standard.
Have done this a couple of times with the SAS, they use MIBS now, during their final work up they do a day Chinook bail out, day Hercy, night Chinook and night Hercy. Back to back with a briefing onboard followed by disembarking for a beach assualt. They looked shagged by final one, :)
