Four men aged 18, 22, 25 and 39 were arrested in connection with the incident.

What makes me laugh more than anything about this is the distance she runs before wading in; everyone else is flapping until her handbag windmilling floors one of the robbers and then all manner of bystanders spot the opportunity to join in the fun.

Mike over at New Wars suggests that Special Warfare Combatant Craft, a heavily armed ‘underwater knife fighting team’ of gung ho US Naval Special Forces may be an answer to the threat.

As usual the british Armed Forces can be relied on to add a dash of humour; this is a video of Royal Artillery (not the RM as usually reported) having a spot of fun on a beach at Al Faw in Iraq. As usual, there are several versions of events, it was a training run for an operation later on, it was a setup and it was a demonstration of the benefits of hovercraft.

Whatever the truth, this never gets old!

Hardy: “Aye, aye sir.”

Nelson: “Hold on, that’s not what I dictated to Flags. What’s the meaning of this?”

Hardy: “Sorry sir?”

Nelson (reading aloud): “‘ England expects every person to do his or her duty, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious persuasion or disability.’ – What gobbledegook is this?”

Hardy: “Admiralty policy, I’m afraid, sir. We’re an equal opportunities employer now. We had the devil’s own job getting ‘England ‘ past the censors, lest it be considered racist.”

Nelson: “Gadzooks, Hardy. Hand me my pipe and tobacco.”

Hardy: “Sorry sir. All naval vessels have now been designated smoke-free working environments.”

Nelson: “In that case, break open the rum ration. Let us splice the mainbrace to steel the men before battle.”

Hardy: “The rum ration has been abolished, Admiral. Its part of the Government’s policy on binge drinking.”
