I asked my grandfather shortly before he passed away in 2008 what project he was most proud of. He had a brain tumour and our last conversations were usually reflective.
I expected him to talk about supercharging the Hercules on the Halifax while in the field, work on Black Knight/Arrow/Blue Streak, Avon and even his sojourn with the Palestine Police (he wasn’t allowed to sign up during WWII as he was an engineer).
His reply: Part of the project team converting the Trent to work with Diesel.
