The list of great UK defence blogs seems to be getting longer.
The sites tagline is
The ups and downs of life as a pilot of the worlds most advanced military helicopter
It is written by an Apache pilot in the Army Air Corps and is a really good read, get over there, take part in the conversations and add to you ‘watch list’

Anyone been over there yet?
TD,
I did,
an enjoyable read, but then I’m already signed up to his way of thinking – your country right or wrong, the violent delivery of HMtQ’s bayonet into HMtQ’s enemy’s gut, and sod the politicians who are of course the masters. Makes it easier to disassociate and live with yourself when you sod the politicians.
Of course, only a pilot would have the more-front-than-Brighton self regard to write about himself in such a way. The rest of us would at least try to work in some non-self stuff. Army pilots are as bad as Kevins in that way. Cue the old joke about “how do you recognise a Harrier pilot in a gathering of 1,000 people? Don’t worry, he’ll tell you”.
But, I can only guess at the sort of moaning minnies that would be outraged***, and I’m near certain my old English tutors wouldn’t have liked the breathless style.
*** That no doubt includes various MoD Civil Servants, the FCO and indeed his CoC who will be having paroxysms at his level of indiscretion.
Awesome blog. Look forward to more…
“Diary of a Gun Fighter”… Where has he gone…there is nothing on his blog now!
Obviously been closed down.
I believe an Apache pilot was involved in an “incident” in Vegas recently….
that it got taken down before i’d had a chance to read it tells me there was some serious entertainment i’ve missed.
I did make the point of asking him if it was OK to link before I posted this, a shame, it was a good read but nothing in there that was controversial.
Hope he is OK anyway
Perhaps with the negative Apache news story someone decided to pull it?
If he wasn’t running any of it past the censors, perhaps someone finally noticed, what with all the recent fuss about Harold.
Or maybe he’s found himself a publishing or serialisation deal.
