About Think Defence

Think Defence hopes to start sensible conversations about UK defence issues, no agenda or no campaign but there might be one or two posts on containers, bridges and mexeflotes!

A 1.4 litre diesel! How small?

Have these been of any use whatsoever?

    They look embarrassingly naff.

I remember the days when the first Nineties got released. Scouring yards for right-offs that just needed a new wing and a bit of tender love from a hammer. Happy Days.

What on earth is that? But it has possibilities, so long as the engine’s good for 100 kmh and is reasonably quiet. Get rid of the roof rack and bolt on a pintle for Javelin, and a 40mm AGL and assuming the thing is good around the muddy bits, you’ve got a decent little recce wagon. Get rid of the stupid half door as well.

Wasn’t this a UOR that got replaced by ATVs?

I’m going to die laughing if you get something like this in 2018

And just one more click from that page gives you a Supacat Mk3 ATV, 1.9td, 6×6, 1.4 tonne load capacity, for three grand less than the Springer. Looks better too.

    TD,

Is this another one of your “smug mode” moments ;-)

That “Self Loading Lightweight Pallet Trailer” looked much more long-term useful altough I guess it would never have provided for the Springer requirements of moving stuff from copter to front-line.

Wouldn’t an old S-64 or Mi-10 do the job by landing a TEU directly onto a truck? I’ve managed to get containers into the thread for you!!!
