Or maybe its a dream?
Spotted these over at Circulotrubia, they seem to show a Warthog recovery in progress
Any spotters know what the recovery vehicle is, uniforms and flag would suggest its not UK, maybe Canadian perhaps?
If you look closely it also seems as if there were two vehicles stuck in water.
Seem like a job well done but Warthogs don’t float anymore then!
A tip of the flat cap to Circulotrubia

Look British to me. Mk7 helmet, obligatory sniper tape around it and outline of Osprey Mk4 visible. They’re in MTP.
The odd one out in the top pic is a Danish soldier.
looks like 0ne powered unit (front) and 2 trailers, they can hook a third and the last one might be the cargo carrier
Paul g, I thought that too, but look again. The big box on top is on the rear section of each vehicle. The front unit of the first vehicle is almost completely submerged.
It looks like the vehicles were wading across the river and the lead vehicle tipped upstream on the river bed, allowing the river to flow into the top hatch and flood the vehicle.
There’s a Danish flag on the vehicle on the left in the second picture.
Yeah its Danish, the Warthog Group has been up north around FOB Khar Nikah lately which is a FOB under the Danish Battalion but manned by Brits.
Its a Danish armoured recovery vehicle, the Bergepanzer 2.
Hi res photos on the Tumblr
http://thinkdefence.tumblr.com/
But I think Phil and Pete have it
Hi res – yeah definately Brits and Danes. You can see the Desert Rats TRF on the shoulders and they are definately in British kit. The geezer in the baseball cap is an interpreter.
The Danish body armour is very distinctive and they have ARVs for the Leopards of Alpha Troop of DANBAT.
‘kin ell when you look at the hi-res you can just make out 4 units ie 2 wartys! shame it’s a dry op that’s a multiple crating, bigger crate fine for the 2nd vehicle for following!!
Hi Phil,
RE “Its a Danish armoured recovery vehicle, the Bergepanzer 2″
- the same chassis as what the RM have (5 of them?) to push the landing craft clear, for them to go to the next job, even if the beach area is under fire?
No idea if its the same chassis. Take a gander on wiki. They just use them for their MBTs.
The same it is.
UK and Dutch take the same, very limited number.
Still, conversions of the Leopard done in each country, separately.
- -maybe there was some sharing of the requirements & design (before that)
Batches of five, or so, no wonder things cost a mint!

Thanks XO, great find
Mystery well and truly solved I think
As a footnote, the events surrounding this event was just on the Channel 4 Frontline programme.
Cheers Mr Fred, missed that but will cath up online
It started on 4+1 fifteen minutes ago.
@ Mr. Fred,
Yeah, caught it. Good show. Shame about the poor lads who took a detour to avoid the river though.
