Just as we neuter our armed forces it seems the cunning Hun has spotted an opportunity.
On the same day that the SDSR explains the true nature of the long feared cuts to the armed forces it was revealed by the BBC the Germans want to take advantage of the Channel Tunnel
The German company wants to run services direct between London and the continent three times a day.

Without a hint of irony the BBC even talks of escape tunnels, no, really, have a look at the screenshot.

there you go then take the 155′s off the AS90 chassis mount them on rails base them at ashford job done! I think there’s some old accom/galley rolling stock from the berlin days knocking round somewhere, bingo
LOL!
Don’t forget it works both ways. “The Hun” may also face the most stubborn of enemies – British Railway.
can you imagine that 70 years ago, “mein furher the invasion is off, damm the RAF! no sir it’s leaves on the line”
still, just in time to get the challys to the sidings and onto the GB express
lol funny post…A good thing, hopefully force prices down as competition from rival companies appear ^^
Marcase,
Nice one. Of course you also forgot the French resistance — the railwayman’s union.
Admin,
Should we now start whistling “Great Escape” every time a fresh-faced British television reporter mentions Chunnel escape tunnels? I say yes.
paul g,
Yes please. Don’t think I’ve mentioned before either but your avatar’s great.
paul,
On a more serious note, you’re likely right. Someone gets a nice fat PFI (and a five-bedroom Grade II listed in Sussex on the salary increase) to handle the logistics, and home the goods go. Those that are being kept, anyway.
jolly jackstaff (i have a CSE in jackspeak courtsey of an attached dark blue)! The scary thing is it’ll go to a cloggie or german firm instead of eddie stobart at twice his price as the EU will come up with some ruling about brit lorries on european roads!!!
as for the avatar might change from post SDSR arty to post SDSR logistics!!
paul g,
It’s a quick course
Post SDSR logistics? Excellent. I quite like donkeys ….
Jackstaff said “I quite like donkeys ….”
What you do in the privacy of your home is your own affair……
