Re: the rocket propelled Hercules, such a contraption seems to justify the evolution the MV-22 Osprey.
Alternatively, a Fairey Rotordyne version of the Herc would be ideal for SF insertion/extraction rather than the Saturn V rockets shown in the video, it would have the advantage of being able to hover(ish), without vaporising anyone nearby.

According to some people, the V-22 isn’t doing well at the moment.
Rotordyne was, I think, a huge missed opportunity.
V-22 will be sorted when the japanese start building it!!!! They want it for their new bigger helicopter assault ship. (248m long) under their laws they can’t call it an aircraft carrier, see what happens when they fly F35′s off it!!!
(good to see they are addressing hanger heights/lift sizes unlike us who apparantly haven’t thought about chinooks ever going onboard CVF, doh!!
Gyro-planes generally have been a giant missed opportunity, been watching and waiting for a modern Rotordyne (except minus those noisy tip jets) or slowed rotor concept to be produced, but everyone seems to still have this obsession with hovering
And there was me who thought, why the hell are we getting rid of these things and not caring about anything not CVRT related
c.
just for you (and anyone with an interest) there still is interest. incidently the fairey could hover when it fired up the rotor tip jets, which had got the noise down to the required level. However meetings in gentlemans clubs, a few funny handshakes with a trouser leg rolled up and fairey was pooped on!!

I seriously like the GBA converted Cessna Skymaster, it definitely has potential!
