is Bernard Gray Off to Advise the Conservatives?
Amongst a number of government advisers that are supposedly off to advise the Conservatives on public sector efficiency is Bernard Gray, the same Bernard Gray that ripped Defence Equipment & Support a new one on the woeful experience of buying, managing and disposing (but mostly buying) military equipment.
The source of the news is only a blog post so who knows if its true, if it is, expect much of what was in the Gray report to find its way into a future conservative governments policy.

update:
Look like the story was correct, a few choice quotes from Bernard in a recent Times article in which he confirms joining the Conservative Policy Advisory Board…
“In the case of the Ministry of Defence, which I studied recently, a much firmer central grip over demand, with stronger and more transparent financial controls, greater technical skill and, crucially, more managerial power and accountability vested in individuals are all required,”
“From my experience of working in and with the Ministry of Defence over the past decade I know how strong such vested interests are and how much commitment is required to overcome resistance to change.
“It will take acts of extraordinary political will to take on these entrenched interests.”
“External help is also likely to be needed: patients are rarely good at diagnosing their own ills.”
