Thanks Phil, covering so much ground in one piece of writing!

RE "Copperhead (Thales). The latter is based on the Bushmaster infantry mobility vehicle, which recently entered limited service with the British Army."
- the Bushmaster news have passed me by: Do you know how limited/ used by whom?

RE "the total disaster that was the FCLV (Future Command & Liaison Vehicle) programme which resulted in the next to useless Panther CLV

... of the 401ordered over five years ago a mere 60 odd are to be sent to Afghanistan, the rest are not considered fit for the front-line and will be used for training."
- I agree with the assessment of the outcome; TD was even more disparaging saying that they have been given to the RAF Regiment (I am! joking, of course)
- but wasn't there a rationale that when all the EU-hatted forces would ride out to keep the peace (rather than make it), there would be a standard command vehicle across the temporarily knitted-together force?
... As in "helicoptering spare parts across the vastness of Darfur"

I fully agree with your Ranger-related thoughts "is a range of vehicles from 4×4 through to 8×8 is interesting. Details are very sketchy but it could provide the basis for the Utility version of FRES"
- but do we know anything about the price (a ball park figure)?
